Pigmy or Dwarf Green Stripe Bamboo, Pleioblastus viridistriatus -
This is such and interesting plant. It has a lot of texture, so it does not give off a shine because it doesn't have a smooth finish. It has a kind of natural matte, soft watercolor effect.
The lucent leaf edges give off light.The leaves are textured with vertical translucent veins that add to the luminous quality of the plant. Between each vertical line, all the up and down the leaf, are tiny hairs that result in a look of flag shapes rectangles. The entire effect of this texture is that is that it has the look of a woven textile. The genteel green stripes and shadings look like they have been lovingly brushed on to each leaf. Finally, easily overlooked, are the very cute tiny pink tips. The growth habit is random with the leaves criss-crossing.
The wind was blowing them around. In a grouping they have a delightful chaotic appearance. A joyous sight, I couldn't take myself away from them.
