Description
Snow has a way of showing us form and shape inviting us to notice what we might normally overlook.
This stretch of trees really grabbed me. To see so many fallen trees in one place gives one pause. I love feeling the disarray of the trees, seeing the detail in the bark and the sense of having to get through the thick stand of trees that is unified by the snow.
Passing this stretch of woods that runs along the Hudson River, you can see the aftermath of hurricane Irene from 2011 and most likely additional trauma from hurricane Sandy in 2013. The chaotic intersections of the fallen trees create a strong visual dynamic, outlined here by the incessant snows of 2014-15.
