Fleabane - Short Variety
Erigeron pulchellus, aka Robin's Plantain, Robin's Fleabane
These sweet flowers fill any spot where they grow with joy. The flowers grow in small clusters of 3 or 4 atop each stem, snuggling close to each other which makes they even more cheerful to see. This growth habit creates random groupings that, to me, are delightful to notice from any angle. Slender stems allow visual space, placing the focus on the flower clusters that seem almost to be floating in air.
The white petals have a slight touch of purple fringing at the edges which gives them a slight pinkish hue and the flower deepens in color as it ages, its final stage ending in a lovely purplish-blue.
