Description

The Bearded Iris, aka, Iris germanica has so many beautiful qualities, from its delicately shapely and dancing petals to the exotic mystery that lies within. One would think that a painter passed by and hand brushed the details.

Iris is the Greek word for rainbow, alluding to the many colors found in this plant family. The evolution of this plant dates back 82 million years!
The Japanese view the iris as a symbol of strength, clarity and kindness. White represents purity and innocence while purple symbolizes royalty and wisdom.


Some look at this image and interpret the details as representational reality, others have interpreted the up close shapes as a floral abstract. We will leave it to the eye of the beholder.
