Artist's Description

The bare branches of the trees that have dropped their leaves show the passage in the November scene from autumn towards winter. The oak trees in the midst of the grayness of the bare trees offer a beautiful contrast in this transition of the seasons.
Oaks are the most frequent among some of the trees that hold on to their leaves throughout the winter. This is known as marcescence. Trees that that do this are known as everciduous.
