Description
Roadside plants series:
A lovely roadside find, small and inconspicuously blending in with roadside field growth.
When ripe, the brown seed pods extend outward from the stalk and look like a bird's foot.
Lotus corniculatus L.- herbaceous perennial legume - AKA - 'butter and eggs', 'eggs and bacon', and 'hen and chickens', all referring to the egg-yolk yellow flowers and reddish bud.

Oooh love this!
Julie Weber replied:
Thank you, Mary. They are so small that these details don't get much notice. Clusters of them line roadsides in the summer.
